In a recent workshop, participants told each other stories about a challenging conversation they’d recently had. I invited them to do a body scan and notice patterns of tension either in their jaw, eyes, shoulders, chest, stomach or legs; and to notice how they were breathing. Most were shocked at how stressed their bodies were. We then practiced some simple exercises to quickly change from a distressed to a more comfortable physical state.
