Many of you already appreciate the benefits of ‘centring’ as a way to manage your state, allowing you to become present, focused and resourceful. I’ve discovered that you don’t need to wait until you get up in the morning to have your first centring practice. A few days ago, after pressing the snooze button for the third time, I decided to experiment with centring while still in bed. Would this help me to mobilise my energy for the day ahead? Adapting the ABC centring method I learned from Mark Walsh, I did the following 3 steps. First, I became of Aware, by tuning in to each part of my body, from feet to head. Then I noticed my Balance and adjusted the way I was laying on the bed so that my weight felt equally distributed. Finally, I relaxed my Core muscles (eyes, mouth, jaw, abdomen, and pelvis) and breathed deeply into my belly. This took only 3 to 4 minutes and afterward I felt ready to get up and start the day. If you’re not a ‘jump right out of bed’ person, try this centring practice and let me know how you get on.
